Homebound....

It's 1:16am and our flight leaves at 6:00am. Packing for a 12 day trip with Thanksgiving, 2 interviews and a wedding for myself and Isaiah was/is so stressful. Not to mention attempting to fly with 55oz of frozen breastmilk with dry ice tomorrow. We'll see how it goes!

Still crying over spilled milk

Over the past 1.5 weeks I've had to throw out 36 oz of breastmilk! A week ago when I was in Fort Worth interviewing, I accidentally left my milk in their fridge. I didn't realize it until I was at the airport! 20oz had to be thrown out since it would go bad during shipping. :(

Then this am as I defrosted 2 8oz bottles and they both had freakin holes in them and they leaked in the hot water I was defrosting them in! I was so mad!!! My supply is definitely decreasing and my freezer stash is dwindling.

Stupid milk!

4 more years

I couldn't keep my eyes awake to watch obama's speech last night so I'm catching up this am at work. Btw, this dark chocolate almond milk is delish!

Halloween

Wednesday was Isaiah's first Halloween. He had 3 outfits. A little overboard I know but he was so freakin cute!

Isaiah also had a very late 9 month well child check at almost 11 months. I was right. He is teeny tiny. Less than 5th percentile for height and around 10th percentile for weight. I know Michael and I are both short but he should be at least 10th percentile for height. Poor thing. I hope he grows longer. He's happy and healthy and I have to remember that's what matters most.

ric recap

Good morning sunshines!

I'm on call tonight.  Booo!  I am sitting here enjoying breakfast and the great view from my lab.

(note that my coffee says "marla")

I thought I'd do a quick recap of our recent trip back to Richmond.  It was great to see old friends and get away from Nashville for a while.  Richmond is beautiful in the fall.

Here's Isaiah falling asleep in Michael's lab while watching him play angry birds.  It was so nice not to have to fly alone!

We made it!

Here's Isaiah hanging out at our old house.  It was weird to be back there all empty.  I hope it gets rented ASAP.  Paying rent + mortgage is rough!

Then we hung out with friends at our favorite sushi place, Osaka.  After that we drove to Porsche & Andre's house near Charlottesville to get some rest.  I still can't believe she would drive almost an hour each day, 2 hours round trip, EVERYDAY during residency!

The next day while Michael worked out at his old gym, Isaiah and I spent some time at a local park.  He had a blast!

The following day was our friends Troy & Kirstie's wedding.  We got a hotel that night at the reception site to make things easier.  Plus since it was an adults only reception, Isaiah would be close by with the babysitter.

Here's Isaiah, king of the bed.

Here are some pictures during the reception.  We are so happy for these two!

The following day we drove around Richmond for a bit.  We went back to the church we got married in.

Then took in the sites of the beautiful maple trees on Monument Ave.

We had lunch at Michael's old clients' house.  It was really good!  Then it was back to Charlottesville and essentially back home the next day.  Overall it was a great trip!

One thing that totally sucked though was that I forgot Isaiah's milk at home here in Nashville!  And for some stupid reason, I only packed the manual breastpump since I planned to pump and dump during the reception.  I tried and tried and tried to get enough milk so Isaiah would have enough milk with the babysitter but I could only get freakin' 2 ounces after manually pumping 3-4 times!!  I was so frustrated because I typically get at least 4 ounce every time I pump.  I ended up resorting to hand expressing which surprisingly enough yielded more milk than when I used the stupid manual pump!  Lesson learned.  Never trust a hand pump!!!
